The traditional Networking meeting organized by CCI of Murmansk Region and Norwegian-Russian Chamber of Commerce  was held  in Murmansk. Mr. Roy Angelvik, State Secretary of Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries of Norway has opened the meeting with welcoming speech. He highlighted  that Russian market has great potential to increase and explore new ways of cooperation and he hopes that it will be reopened for the export of seaproducts from Norway. Nevertheless, what concerns modernization of the Russian fishing fleet and aquaculture our mutual cooperation continues, despite the current challenges.

Anatoly Glushkov, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Murmansk region, noted that it becomes a good tradition to have Russian-Norwegian business meetings at the same time with the fishing exhibition and  international conference “Sea. Resources. Technologies - 2018”. He has underlined  that the Norwegian-Russian Chamber  of Commerce has good opportunities to solve any mutual problems, so the fishing companies of Murmansk Region should  use such possibility more actively.

Elena Tikhonova, Minister of Economic Development in her presentation referred to achievements and prospects for cooperation between Murmansk Region and Norway. She noted that 2018 is a landmark for our region. This is the year of the 80-th anniversary of the Murmansk region, the 25-th anniversary of signing of the Kirkenes Declaration and the 30-th anniversary when agreements on cooperation between the Murmansk region and the Norwegian provinces of Finnmark and Troms were signed. The Minister Tikhonova stressed that our region is always open for mutually beneficial cooperation and constructive frank dialogue.Foreign partners were invited to implement projects on the territory of outstripping socio-economic development  in Kirovsk.

Special  attention at the networking meeting was given to furthering  of economic relations between Russian and Norwegian enterprises in the fishing industry. Representatives of Norwegian companies, suppliers of fishing equipment are eager  to offer their experience and knowledge to the Russin fishing industry, as well as consider other opportunities for cooperation in the fishing industry and fish processing sector.Next day participants of the Russian-Norwegian meeting continue their work at the 5-th international conference "Fishing in the Arctic: Modern Challenges, International Practice and Prospects”.
